Masami Kelly’s designs are intricate and intimate. They are often understated, with a quiet, etherial beauty. Every piece is designed and created with an aim for balance, quality and elegance. She truly has the eye of an artist.
Masami's main inspiration comes from the delicate and intricate objects she finds. She looks for ways to transform these objects, so they become permanently captured in the form of jewelry. Lace and insect wings are her main fascinations, both being fragile and incredibly beautiful. They are intimate things-- delicate, with latticelike structures. With her gentle touch and perfectionism, Masami has the skills of a professional goldsmith, with concepts that strive to achieve elegance and beauty in her work. Masami aims to create jewelry that transforms an ephemeral moment into a lasting treasure.
Masami Kelly was born and raised in both the California Bay Area and Tokyo, Japan. She was always fascinated in the high skill and attention to detail inherent in traditional Japanese craft. Masami attended the Rhode Island School of Design, where she discovered her talent for jewelry-making. In 2006, Masami received her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, with a concentration in Jewelry & Metalsmithing, from the Rhode Island School of Design.
Based in San Francisco, Masami Kelly’s work can be found at Alix & Company (Mill Valley, CA) and Fiat Lux (San Francisco). For inquiries about custom designs or more information, please visit her contact page.
